Edith Nesbit

Edith Nesbit fue una escritora victoriana que abordó diversos géneros en sus obras, aunque destacó especialmente por sus historias de fantasía para niños, que se convirtieron en sus trabajos más exitosos y aclamados por la crítica. En estas obras, la autora consiguió aunar con naturalidad los aspectos más mundanos con aquellos más fantásticos, inspirados muchas veces en tópicos y motivos de los cuentos de hadas, a la vez que retrató con singular destreza las inquietudes y problemas de los niños. Este vívido retrato de la infancia le ha permitido a Nesbit mantenerse vigente incluso en el público infantil actual.
Además de sus trabajos para niños, la autora también cultivó el relato de terror destinado a los lectores adultos y la poesía.
