Mary Robinette Kowal

Raleigh (Carolina del Norte), Estados Unidos, 1969.

Mary Robinette Kowal es una escritora y titiritera estadounidense. Estudió Educación Artística en la Universidad del Este de Carolina, donde se especializó en teatro, y desde 1989 trabaja profesionalmente como titiritera. Ha trabajado en LazyTown y en Barrio Sésamo. Asimismo, ha sido directora de arte de Shimmer Magazine y Weird Tales. También es actriz de voz y ha realizado audiolibros para escritores de género.

Es una de las presentadoras de Writing Excuses, un podcast de formato breve sobre la escritura. Además, ha formado parte de la junta de la SFWA, la Asociación de Escritores de Ciencia Ficción de América, y ha sido su presidenta en el período de julio de 2019 a 2021.

Ganó el premio Astounding en 2008 como autora novel, el premio Hugo por la novela corta “La señora astronauta de Marte” y el de Mejor Relato por “Por falta de un clavo”, y el Hugo, el Nebula y el Locus por Hacia las estrellas, la precuela de dicha historia.
