Vernon Lee

Boulogne-sur-Mer, Francia, 1856 – Florencia, Italia, 1935.

Vernon Lee, cuyo nombre real fue Violet Paget, fue una escritora británica que escribió principalmente cuentos de fantasmas, pero también novelas y libros de viajes. A pesar de ello, prefería ser tratada como ensayista y no como autora de terror.

A los trece años publicó en un periódico un cuento y a los veinticuatro años su trabajo, Estudios del siglo XVIII en Italia, sorprendió a todo el mundo. Toda su obra gira en torno a la cultura y vida italiana, y fue clave en la introducción de la empatía en la narrativa y el arte.
