Mary Higgins Clark

Nueva York, Estados Unidos, 1927 — Naples (Florida), Estados Unidos, 2020.

Después de haber trabajado como secretaria, editora y auxiliar de vuelo, dejó de trabajar para casarse y tener una familia. Aunque, al cabo de un tiempo, decidió dedicarse a escribir para contribuir en los ingresos de la familia. Cuando murió su marido, su representante la convenció para que escribiera novelas y, aunque la primera no fue un éxito, no se rindió y siguió escribiendo. Ahora es conocida como «la reina del suspense» y «maestra de la intriga».

Ganó el premio premio Horatio Alger (1997) y el premio Passionists’ Ethics in Literature (2002), premio Espíritu del Logro de la Facultad de Medicina Albert Einstein de la Universidad Yeshiva (1994) y la Medalla de Oro de Educación del National Arts Club (1994). Tiene la medalla de oro de honor por parte de la sociedad histórica estadounidense-irlandesa (1993) y la medalla de honor Ellis Island (2001). Además, en 1999 la nombraron Leyenda de El Bronx. También fue nombrada Dama de la Orden de San Gregorio Magno, Dama de Malta, Dama del Santo Sepulcro de Jerusalén y, también en 1999, los franciscanos le dieron el premio Graymoor.
