Suzette Haden Elgin

Suzette Haden Elgin fue una poeta y escritora estadounidense de ciencia ficción, además de lingüista. Estudió en la Universidad de California, donde se sacó un doctorado en Lingüística y se convirtió en la primera estudiante de dicha universidad en escribir dos tesis, una en inglés y otra en navajo. Después se dedicó a trabajar como profesora e investigadora en la Universidad Estatal de San Diego. 

Para su trabajo de ficción creó el láadan, un lenguaje artificial fundamentado en la interpretación feminista de la hipótesis de Sapir-Whorf. Llegó a publicar una gramática y un diccionario sobre el tema. También fue la fundadora de la Science Fiction Poetry Association.

Ganó el premio Rhysling de poesía de la Asociación de Poesía de Ciencia Ficción en 1988, estuvo nominada cuatro veces a los premios Locus y James Tiptree Jr. Memorial.
